Good thought. Can I still get Midnight Blue or would I have to go with Sea Blue as they offer now. Thanks.

Thanks for posting the price. I don't think many here will hold it against you that you are in the business. A good car is a good car and if the price is right, it won't matter at all...

Well, as to you saying you're not regularly posting cars for sale here, that is really because you can't, per the rules, as a business-if I'm not mistaken. I believe it is stated that only personally owned cars can be posted here. The classifieds on RL are probably different. If indeed, as you say, you've only done it infrequently, I suppose no harm. But then again, if multiple car dealers came on with similar statements as to their purest of intentions in posting a particular car, next thing is we've got cars.com or similar working here on a tech forum.

Just my opinion. Good luck on selling the car.

Ed, My intentions are pure and I keep getting the sneeking feeling that you feel otherwise. Perhaps our opinions are best left unspoken when making judgements about those we barely know. I have sold plenty of cars of all kinds, playing on this site is my get away. I don't need to come on here and potentially subject myself to being thought poorly of just to sell one vehicle, or even a hundred vehicles. That would be very short sided of me. This community is small and you get out what you put in. This is the last place I would look to try and offer anything that was of a questionable backround.

I certainly wasn't stating anything negative about the car. I am just a bit skeptical when this is being offered up as a seemingly special favor to us, when in reality you're a dealer and you are trying to sell inventory. And, that is not to impugn you or your integrity as a dealer.

mlk118s.

Firstly. The car looks lovely and original. Great find!

Secondly. I agree. Do the stone guards but also do the mats (Im sure the factory colour is still available) and while your at it get an automotive upholstery specialist to colour fill the cracked leather in those seats, re align the driver seat base bolster and give them a good feed. Also the gear **** leather. That lot shouldnt run too high. I suspect the far would benefit with a full service but id leave that for the new owner and PPI to haggle. You know all this already.

If you have sold 6500 retail units in 7 years (3 a day?) and one assumes you make between 2-3000 usd on average per car (more on 993s) then your margin has been around $15 million usd or $2 million a year in which case you are a very wealthy man and I cant understand why you would waste your time with us bunch of detractors and hard assed nut cases. Me, if I were you, Id be employing someone else to do the graft and larging it up on a yacht with lots of young nubile girlies ;-)

Best of luck with the sale. Cant see anyone being dissapointed with this example if a nice cab in white is on their agenda...

Cheers

Love the color combo and that sounds like a nice one you found. The price is right and I believe you will sell it easily, especially since it is 'topless' season. Hopefully you have the boot cover for it. Enjoy it, but not too much, before you sell it

If the car is as nice as you say, I for one appreciate the fact that you are offering it first to fellow reenlist members. Good on you and good luck with the sale.

Thanks for the kind words. The leather is pretty well in excellent condition with the exception of the drivers bolster. Do you think I need to dye it or just have it properly cleaned and conditioned? I use a company that does upholstery work for me all the time and on a regular car I don't think twice about it.

Wealthy is a strech, and $2000-$3000 on average would be a dream come true and something that with volume has become something that guys in my generation (I am 31) only hear about from the old days. Being competitive and turning a lot of inventory is the name of the game. The internet has been a wonderful tool for car guys of my generation but the drawback is that overall vehicle profit declined. The up side is your vehicles reach a worldwide audience and can sell what you have much faster. I have sold stuff all over the world in the past several years. A guy in Moscow wanted a Volvo XC90 I had...guess they cant find any in Europe? Weird but it works.
I work every day. I love what I do and always have which is priceless on its own. I learned that the more you work the better. I recently had like 4 days off with nothing to do. I went insane.

Thanks, I buy cars every day of my life and know what is out there in general. The overall condition of used cars in this country had never been worse. People just don't seem to care, and it makes no difference as to a cars price point either. A guy that buys a $100,000 Mercedes is just as likely to pig out a car as a high school student that gets a new Cobalt.

I personally really like older cars (of all kinds) that people cared about and took care of. They are only original once as they say. When you get one you want to show it to others that will likely think the same. Yes, I always want to sell a car, but there sometimes that its just as important who buys it. I want someone to buy it and keep it the way I would.

Matter of fact I bought back an SL500 from a good customer recently and she kept it top notch. On unique stuff I always ask customers that when they want to move to something else they keep me in mind and let me buy stuff back, and it works well for me.

Bottom line, the car should go to a Porsche enthusiast not some hump who wants to look like one. A PCA or RL member is the best I could hope for.

Fair enough! Good on you. Being passionate about what you do is the key I reckon!
