Default Porsche sandwich

Last week I was out for a drive. The light was red. The car in front of me stopped. I stopped. The guy in back of me didn't stop. Hit me in the rear and pushed me into the car in front. The driver of the car that hit me jumped out of the car and said it was his fault. LOL DUH. Fortunately nobody was injured. I had just replaced the front bumper cover 2-3 months ago! Now I'm getting a new front and rear bumper cover. The damage is ~$10,500. For an additional $3500 they are going to paint the entire car and take out all of the little dents I've accumulated in 16 years (a few in the doors that I never saw, one on the right rear fender). I won't have the car back for a month or so and will miss prime convertable weather. Can I sue to guy that hit me for this loss of use and the resulting depression it has caused? LOL I had been thinking about painting the entire car anyway and they would have done that for ~$7000. Oh well.

Hate you had the accident, but fresh paint after it's fixed is great. Just keep racking up the miles. I love seeing the one owner miles keep rolling forward.

He was probably doing everything but driving...like texting or yapping on a cell phone or stuffing a coffee mug in his face.

Like my sig line says on another forum...
What you won't find in my car is a coffee, cigarette and a cell phone. What you will find is a driver. Imagine that, a driver in a vehicle; what an effing concept!

I always leave lots of room to the next car ahead of me just so bozos like that can have a few hours of warning if I need to stop.

You can make a claim against the person who caused the accident for diminished value. ;-)

Hey Rich! Glad you were not hurt. You'll be back racking up the miles before you know it. Your car will look like it did the day you picked it up new Keep on rollin' bro!

That sucks!!! But at least there is no metal work, it's just a bumper & light.

Sorry to read about your accident.

Your mileage shouldn't have to have too big an impact on your diminished value claim...

Diminished value is only recognized in certain states...check with your insurance agent to see if it applies in yours.

Well, that does suck, but then again, it maybe was one of those fortunate incidents if you get a new paint job out of it, and it's only bolt on parts-and you weren't hurt, except that mental anguish you'll have at stoplights the rest of your life.....

Kelley Blue Book Values your 993 with 272k miles +/- at $17-20k +/-.

Trade-In/Sell ValuesTrade-In Private Party Excellent $19,975 Good $18,675
Change condition
Fair $16,575

So a claim for diminished value @ 10% could be worth $1,800.

My company is taking care of me (Chubb), so there is no diminished value option. They are an awesome company to deal with. They will pay for new OEM parts. Neither of the bumper covers are the original ones. The car was painted in 2000 after a run in with a light pole while going backwards (89,000 miles). The second repaint won't cause any diminished value. 180,000 miles of highway has led to a chip or two. Now I'm going to have to start wearing a bra again. Aghhhh.
