Default Clutch and Flywheel Labor Costs

The dealer wants $2200 plus anything extra they have to do while replacing my clutch/flywheel setup. This obviously seems about $600 high to me.

What's a decent price for a shop to swap out a clutch/flywheel set with Rear Main Seal?

IIRC labor is typically around 10 hours if they only drop the transaxle. It definitely should not be more than that. Does the $2200 include the clutch and related parts?

If they drop the engine, I'd say you should be able to find an indy wrench to do the work in 10-15 hours at $100/hr. That's not including the parts, just labor.

I paid Euros 700.- and supplied the LWF Supercup RS clutch kit. It included the crank seal too. Motor stayed in.

$1200-1500 is what I was expecting. Even at the dealer $125hr ($1515), I need to figure out where the other $700 is coming from since they know I'll be supplying the parts.

There is a little bit more labor to disconnect SC and IC parts but that can't take more than an hour.

The $700 is the dealer mark-up. That's why no one takes their 993 to the dealer; they don't know these cars as well, and they over-charge.

I spent $3398.60--new clutch, oil, LWF and labor. Engine removed. This was 2/12/04--7 years ago and 38,859 on the clock.

$1870.00 Clutch/Flywheel
$28.99 for rear seal
$99.99 for 10 quarts of oil (I just had my oil changed 800 miles prior--used same filters)
$1099.46 labor
$107.79--Idle speed adjustment
$192.36 tax

I had my front seal replaced at the time---total job $447.58
Rotars turned--front and rear --$215.58

Total that shop trip: $4152.91 and I got a car that stalls every now and then!!

I asked the dealer about the quote and they said it was a 16 hour job instead of 12. Seems like a hell of a lot of padding to me. wow. Indy here I come. Now to figure out which one here in Atlanta......
Suggestions?

Usually when the have some rediculous labor they are saying in the nicest possible way, they don't want to work on your car.

I have no idea how anyone is able to get all that lined up for reassembly without dropping the engine too...
