I may have to retract what I said about Williams/SO drivers. Somebody started a thread on GJ yesterday about it and there is a big debate about how similar they are.

OMG...that is expensive...no wonder people get mad when their tool sets get stolen!

One more question on the rounded swivel head. Does the swivel lock at 180 degrees?

I tend to be impatient with my tools, and I can see that if the swivel is free to rotate, it can put torque at an improper angle and cause the nut/bolt to strip.

When possible, I actually put one hand on my rachet head to the bolt so the torque I put on the handle is 90 degrees to the bolt.

I do so, so that the socket remains square to the head of the fastener, especially when using extensions.

For the one that has the round head with a "cup" swivel action, it does not lock. Snap-On does make a locking set of pivoting ratchets though.

+1 I do the same but mainly to ensure good contact at the socket/bolt interface.

It's funny this thread comes about. I started buying Snap On when I was 16. Started working young. I'm 49 now so do the math. Last month I was looking through one of my tool boxes and saw that two of my hard handle drivers had turned to dust, go figure. Put them in the truck until I saw a Snap On truck and asked for a replacement. No issue two new drivers updated model, Snap On is always worth the money. He explained the older drivers would disinegreat if they have years of oil deposited in them. Just love the no
nonsense warranty. And they always feel good!
