Alternator belt has a sensor?
But, even if there was no sensor, when the alternator belt fails, the dash lights up like a X-mas tree instantly indicating the problem.
However, when the fan belt breaks, no instant warning occurs?
I think the fan belt is more important because it supplies cooling for the cylinders and IMHO, overheating is much more serious than running on the battery for a while.
Correction: After some replies, it's appearant that the sensor is on the fan belt which makes sense. I like it.

Reason: Sensor is on the fan belt.
Do the RS pulley upgrade, one belt, both are then using the sensor.
Interesting way of looking at it, never really thought about it. My guess is if you do loose the fan belt, you will feel a increase in power, & then see the temp going up.
Yes, Gunter, I think you have it backwards. When the Alt. belt breaks you'll know because of all the lights on the dash will light up (just ask CSertich), the fan belt has the (mechanical tension) sensor.
