Do yourself a favor. Get a 24" flexible pick-up tool with a magnet on the end.
I need to change the air filter anyways so the passenger side might do with the intercooler and air filter cover off. Will get a pick up tool for sure, thanks for the heads up.

Sometimes it seems that might make it a little simpler and easier!

The shock ending 01 is 370n and the one ending 02 is 600n

If you think there are different qualities then thats you call. You are comparing parts that came from a production line years apart

The Bosch caps are a prime example, now made in Spain or Czech Republic, not Germany. Do you think they have a production run in a German factory just for Porsche?

911Pervy. You are dead correct. The bosch disti cap is the same quality and part as the one with the Porsche inventory number these days. The DME relay is a perfect example of a part now made in Czech repub...
Thanks for the nm specs on the 01 & 02. I have found the perfect combo is one of each....

Nm is a torque; N is a force. In post #9 yesterday I stated:
Could 370N be 370 Newtons = 83 pound-force per strut?

FWIW, I replaced both of mine with 911.512.331.02 versions (from PP for $13.75 ea) in spring '06. That year I could flip burgers from the lid if I didn't use my hand to control it ( I'm part Jedi, in case you are wondering, but that's another story), year two it would come up automatically, but at a very controlled speed. Today, they take about 10s to fully open the first time, and a couple seconds on subsequent openings.

Are you saying ordering from Porsche gets you the same Bosch cap; the one made in Spain.

That is too bad because the qualities between now and what came in the car in the 90s are different, physically.

I wish PP would list manufacturer's part numbers on their site as well. I did "ask a question about this part" and they got back to me with Stabilus numbers that did not make sense.

Agreed. The reason I know the Porsche number is because there was a sticker on the bag they came in.

Paul - That's known as SED or Strut Erectile Disfunction happens to a lot of guys/cars as they get older - well not me of course, but other people...

Sure enough, placing the end of the gas-pressure spring up against a bathroom scale and compressing it showed 86 pounds.

Close enough!

The bathroom scale was in the garage. Guess I should have called it a garage scale.
