My goal obviously was more power and to stay in this body shape which is my idea of a porsche.
Bill-- I'm picking up what you're laying down.

If I could keep the stock non-tail look, a supercharger might be the way to go...

excellent, thanks so much for posting all those pics. especially cool to see all the parts out on the bench pre-op.
love the clock gauge, looks great.
do you have a pic of the heater blower before they modified it to get it to fit into that little space above the fuel rail? I can't quite figure out how they did that.
thanks again all. it is a completely different car to drive and will keep me happy with it.
k722070 - is there some specific pics I can try to get for you? I know they had to remove a flap portion I believe is designed to keep idle or reverse speed engine bay gasses from entering the intake. I have not noticed any significant problem with exhuast smell in the car without it. PM me if there is something specific I can find out for you.
not worth any trouble, I was just trying to visualize how they fit it in there upside down.
I went out and had a look at the part on my car, I can kind of see in the last couple pics how they removed some pieces and twisted in place. very cool solution.
Update on the car. With cat bypass alone I noticed a lot more exhaust smell at times, especially low speed driving/idling. Some of this was the car running rich, some was the lack of cats. It was also a touch loud even for my tastes. So I substituted the sportcat option of the Fabspeed setup, we bought the unichip tuning cable/software and the shop retuned the car. The sounds is better at low speed (less tinny/raspy) but still plenty under throttle - about perfect combo to me (RSR and sportcats). They also retuned it and driveability is much improved and they had their dyno recalibrated (some had noted here the numbers seemed quite high). The new curve is here for completeness sake of the thread. Right around 360 rwhp. Car drives great!
Thanks for the update. Still pretty spectacular gains. I've almost pulled the trigger on this a couple of times, but thoughts of eventually going racing have kept me from it. Must admit every time I read a thread on a conversion, it gets me going again!
I've read this topic with a lot of interest and now I'm considdering this upgrade too. I searched the forum but it's still not clear to me whether I can keep using the airconditioning or not. Could anybody inform me about that?
Yeah - you can still use the aircon with the SC installed. It does not need to be removed. But with gen 4 setup you have no heat pipe - so warm air won't blow as hot.
Nice job. You should be happy with this for a long time.
I'm curious if the installer mentioned any recommended engine upgrades with the SC. I know many who add the SC kit to the M5 recommend replacing rod bearings and chain ramps for example. Not all do but it seems to be recommended often.
