You're asking this on a board full of crazies devoted to 993s. I have a feeling the answers will reflect that.

not a trick question. I prefer 993 over 996. A friend of mind is debating between the two and i am just curious wht everyone else thought is...

IMHO, the 996 only looks good from MAYBE a couple of angles
the 993 looks good from EVERY angle

Think about it... You can get a pretty decent 996 C4S in the mid $30Ks. A comparable 993 C2S is easily $5-10K more.

I owned a 95 993, got a 2000 996 and then went back to the 993 (C4s). The 996 is a nice, fast car. It IS a Porsche 911 and for the money it really is a good value...but it just wasn't as fun to drive. If you going to get a car that's not that fun to drive, get a Range Rover Sport and at least you'll have a little room for the family or golf clubs etc...If you want a car that is fun, 993 is the BEST choice out there IMHO...

+ 1. The 996 has too many angles where it looks a little plain. I was in the same boat before I came to my senses and bought my 993. Close call!!!
