Have to agree with you. It was in '03 that they went to glass rear windows. I put an '03 top on my '01 Boxster S so I could have a glass rear window. Well worth the cost.

The only time I have my top down is on a warm summer night or during sunset. When Its hot you get baked, and when its cold, its very uncomfortable.

As for a 993 cab, get ready for creeks, rattles, and serious body flex.

I'm with you. Would love to have a C2S or C4S one day. I just can't immagine being without the Cab for those "perfect" Cab days/nights.

We had a 300 SL for a few years, and I just felt too conspicuous in it with the top down.

But, as noted above, the choice is entirely subjective.

I know that Bruce Anderson's pricings have been extensively criticized here, but I see that his averages for cab prices are higher than for coupes.

No creaks here....with my 95 cab

With earlier comment of people going to 997 to 993:

Probably leased 997 as their first Porsche to test it out....liked it.........turned it in after lease....bought 993 for half price versus used 997......

Kelly Blue Book Value. for a 96 993 with 50K miles Coupe and Cab pricing. all options the same:

1996 Cabriolet / 50K Miles
BLUE BOOK® PRIVATE PARTY VALUE

Excellent $42,200
Good $40,900
Fair $38,800

1996 Coupe / 50K Miles
BLUE BOOK® PRIVATE PARTY VALUE

Excellent $38,575
Good $37,375
Fair $35,425

There is about $3500 premium difference between the Cab and the Coupe.

That price difference grows with age. Look at the 356 coup vs cab prices.

You are either a cab guy or a coupe guy. If you are a cab guy - then relish in being able to buy a car at a discount today. I am a cab guy.

I owned a 993 cab and sold it for a widebody. The cab was very nice, but not being able to take it to a DE always bothered me. To satisfy the cab urge, I picked up a 968 cab. If the 968 doesn't do the trick, I'll try a newer boxster some day.

Cab, would not have it any other way. Nothing like the open air flowing through the cabin. 993 new were $6K higher than the coupe. Love the looks of the cab. Here are my two German cabs.

1997 993 Targa Wheels, 40Kmi
1957 Victoria Avanti K the only one in existance in USA and only 25 in the wrold.

Don't confuse book value with market value. I'm not passing any judgement; I like all 993's over 997's. The market "is what it is" and the fact is coupes command a premium price over a similar cab. My guess is that Bruce Anderson's "analysis" uses the higher MSRP of the cab and as a result it skews his figures to an incorrect pricing conclusion.

Anderson's premium, (in the February Excellence) for a '96-'97 is $7,200 for "low" and $9,000 for "high".

...1952 Victoria Avanti K...Rdelvalle
Wow!

Really? Do you have data to backup your market "is what it is - fact"?

I had been away from Porsches for about 20 years and bought an '02 996 C2 coupe. I really liked the car but it felt more like a GT car than a sports car. So I sold it and bought a '97 993 Cab. I love this car and while I will have other Porsches I will always keep this one!
