knight, my camera sucks, always bad at conveying these kinds of things, I will post up a photo tonight or this week.

as an aside im having a random flickering of one of my headlamps (PO installed) im suspecting i might be due for new ballasts on the head lamps.

One of easiest DIYs, about a 2 on a scale of 1-10.

Can be done in under a hour depending on how you want to connect the electrical and the quality of the kit.

Any kit that include the slim ballast will fit in the lighting assembly w/o any external components. My install that has been in place since 2007 looks just like the picture in the post above. Here is a write-up I did a while ago:

https://rennlist.com/forums/993-foru...e-gotchas.html

In the above posting I speak of reaming out the existing bulb socket with a moto-tool. Others have found this step to be unnecessary. It probably has to do with variations in the diameter of the xenon lamp globe that comes with these kits or variations in individual lamp housing socket dimensions.

Tore's kit is perfect, had it on for a couple of years. The LED brake/tail and indicator set he has are a major improvement over std also.

I installed Tore's kit and posted elsewhere it was a drop in for my '95, well that was true for the right side, then I did the left side.

The door on the back of the lamp bucket on the left didn't have the bosses for accepting the mounting screw that were on the right headlight!

Also, the left side just need a kiss (practically nothing, just a casting mark) from a rat tail file to clear the bulb which dropped in on the right.

NO problem, the door 993.631.911.00 with the bosses is available from Porsche and is only $13 from Sunset.

+1 for Tore's kits. Always well researched and good value.

I have both the HID on dips and the LED conversion on the indicators and stops and have added the front sides as well.

Night and day, and as written before - you don't need the full beam any more because the dip is so powerful.

My wife picked up the Tore kit as an early birthday present. Just arrived and the kit looks great.

I have the tore kit as well. With the correct back doors with the bosses it took me about 15 min to install. The quality is excellent.

Here's a pretty basic question. When you install the HID kit, do you lose you Hi-beam? Can you install
two that would cover both low and hi beam? I live in a rural area, and the hi-beams are pretty necessary.

thanks,

Gary

No and yes in that order.
The dip is a projector and the HID works better there.
The main is a reflector and you get a lot of scatter, also there is a slight delay which means the headlight flash doesn't always work as you want it.
HID on dip is so much more powerful you will find less need for main.
My personal recommendation is Tore's on dip and a Superbright or equivalent on main.

Thanks for all the support guys, it is highly appreciated!
I would not recommend using HID lamps in the high beam. It is a normal reflector type of lamp, and not the lense type as in the dipped beam. Using a HID lamp in such reflectors will produce a lot of light indeed, but most of it in the car's near field. This is not where you want the main portion of the light using high beam. I've tried, and quickly reverted to normal halogen bulbs.
Cheers,
Tore

i did the same. a little more than $100 (tax, license, registration), 5000k, slim ballasts, great RL vendor, and robin sun was generous enough to do the install for me in 30 mins. couldn't be happier...now if i can only find the correct "hi beam" bulbs....
