Default HID Conversion Kit Porsche 993

I know there are various posts about doing the conversion and many have had good success doing a xenon conversion. I am planning on doing a set of 5000k Xenons, but I cant get a hard answer on the best kit to go with. Who has done it and can give me input on where they got their kits (if ebay..what seller) and about how much to expect to pay for a good quality kit. There are hundreds of kits out there as cheap as 30-40 bucks...i'm slightly hesitant putting that cheap of a set in. Any suggestions are welcome.

I bought mine from ddmtuning.com but I recently read in the forum that they no longer sell the slim ballasts. They do sell a similar kit with a larger ballast. The slim ballast did fit inside the headlight bucket without any drilling.

I've got one coming from DistanceXtremes Lighting, afew other rennlisters have them from here as well as Vertex.com. A search of HID on the forum should bring up various suppliers.

I've heard vertex mentioned quite often. Got mine from a local friend who was selling them so I can't be of much help as we have lost contact. Def. go with the slim balasts though so you can put them in the headlight bucket.

How about an intro and, of course, pics? I always love pictures.

I just installed the Sportiva (H1) purchased off Ebay for $40 which included shipping. I followed the instructions from a DDM install link below. First light took 20 minutes, because I questioned every step. Next light about 2 minutes. Super easy and looks amazing! (and my first official mod!)

Got mine from DDM Tuning. Also have another set from Xentec on ebay for the family car.

I bought my first kit about 2 years ago. I don't remember the ebay store and they aren't around anymore. I had to replace them in October with a super slim digital kit from Xentech. One of the new ballasts didn't work and they promptly replaced it. It's a really easy mod.

Decided on the Sportiva ultra slim digital ballasts. $43 shipped. Couldn't decide on 4300k or 6000k though....any further input on that subject? A lot of people said 5000k, but that didnt seem to be an option..

i went with 6000K, I wanted them to be more white then yellow. I'm ok with a little blue tint. I think the 4000-5000K were too close to halogen.

I installed the 6000k versus the 4300k yesterday and I'm very happy with the look and color. Some say it has a slight blue tint. Doesn't matter, it looks 1000% better and now I'm up to new car standards. I have driven at night for the last two nights, no one flashing their high beams at me. I was concerned they may be too bright, but they are just perfect. BTW, as others noted, you don't even need your high beams anymore. When you do turn on the old high beams, its like splashing yellow onto pure white snow. No comparison.

I'm running low beam 4300K HIDs and have just basic halogen Silverstar Ultras for the high beams which make the color difference between the two much less noticeable.

I went the carnewal.com route...a bit more $, but kept it in the community. With some of the delays and quality issues I've read about others, I also figured it was a better option for me.

Might be a dumb question, but does the upgrade cover HID for both standard and high-beam settings?

If not, can you do HID for both std and hi-beam - or is this simply not required (due to the performance of HID) ??

The headlight has separate bulbs for low and high beams. You could upgrade both, but most find the HID low beams more than adequate.
