Hi, all ,
I got a 1997 993 targa , normally , when I lock/unlock the car , the direction light will lighting , but I found only left side is working recently , I check the lamp / fuse of right side direction light , it is ok , the function of right direction is ok too , only in lock/unlock car , the right side light is not working , any idea about this ?
There may be a problem with the connection to the alarm/door lock control unit. Both signal light circuits are connected there. Check that both connectors are OK and not damaged by moisture or something. The unit is placed under the right seat, it's the metal box with black and yellow connectors. You have to remove the seat to get a real look.
Cheers,
Tore
The flashing of the side lights are controlled by the immobilizer/alarm box located under the passenger seat. Sometimes the relays get stuck on (means the lights will not turn off) , or they intermittently fail.
If you are good with a soldering iron, you can fix it by replacing the correct relay. You will have to cross reference the relay, its not available from Porsche. If you are not handy, then buy a new security module.
