Default 993 Cigarette Lighter situation

I'm curious if any of you have figured out the solution to cell phone chargers that plug into the cigarette lighter being too small and falling out. I contacted Porsche thinking they sell some sort of compatible version but no. I've got a 95 993 and a 2010 phone, ha. Thanks!

If you are a IPhone user. Buy the TomTom Carkit for Iphone. It fit´s perfect.

I also had some problems in the past. Not long ago I bought a USB cigarette plug to recharge a camera. It did not work at all. A couple of years ago I borrowed a GPS and had constant problems with the plug falling out.

I use a cigarette plug for my CTEK charger and the fit is not perfect. But it´s a minor problem since the car is stationary when in use. Does anyone know if the Porsche marked CTEK chargers cigarette plug is different?

The plug-in charger on my Garmin 296 was always giving me a 'external power disconnected' message when I used in the pcar. :-[

My solution? One eveing, I whipped out my soldering iron and put a 'dab' of molten solder onto the 'tip' and shaped it like a 'cone'. Net result - the 'tip' is proud by about a millimeter.
I then put a small screwdriver under each of the 'springy bits' and lifted them out a smidge - so that the fitting INTO the cigarette lighter socket - would be 'tight'.

Has worked a treat ever since!

I wired a second 12 outlet and placed it under the dash above the pax footwell. Just because I don't like the placement of the stock lighter for charging stuff.

I had this problem with a radar detector. Simple solution. Fold a piece of somewhat firm cardboard into the cylindrical shape of the standard plug. I simply inserted the cardboard into the lighter socket first, then plugged the plug in. Nice tight fit. The cardboard not being a conductor of current, solves this problem nicely.
