Dear Rennlisters,
Periodically the turn signal is left on when we park the car in the garage.
On my 993 this leaves the turn signal lamps illuminated.
After a couple of days the battery is dead.
Before I pull out the wiring diagram, has anyone thought through how to change the power wiring so the turn signal circuit is not powered when the key is taken from the ignition avoiding a dead battery?
Andy :-)

You sure its the turn signal? It could be a stuck relay in the immoblizer...when the lights flash twice when locking, do the stay on?
I have seen this before.
You can pull the turn signal fuse if required, but the rest of the circuit including the relay (if its the immoblizer) is still turned on.
Cheers,
Mike

If the turn signal lever is set to either left or right, the corresponding signals stay lit, even with the ignition and headlights off. I believe it is a european convention so that you can illuminate the light while parked on dark streets depending on which side of the street you are parked.

Spent a week in Great Britain a few years ago, when people live on the secondary roads the only place to park usually is on the street and most of the time there's only enough room to get have way off. At night it's a big plus to be able to see those cars.
