Porsche Indie recommend - Chicago suburbs
I just purchased a 993 and am in search for a reputable indy shop to perform work on the car as may be required. I live in the western suburbs of Chicago. This car appears to be much more complicated than my 968, so, I will need a good shop to do those jobs that are beyond my wrenching capabilities.
Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the fold! I work in Lisle, live in Oswego, so we are practically neighbors.
I have used CarsPlus in Westmont recently for alignment/oil change (and a ride-height adjustment), and also previously had a PPI done at Midwest Eurosport in Bensonville (but haven't had my car up there for anything yet). I was happy with the outcome at both shops.

Best place to go with your Porsche is Fischer Motors in Barrington. They service my 993 Turbo and 987 Boxster S and my wife's Mercedes. Rick Fischer (son) and Peter Fischer (father) run a great shop, know air cooled 911's, are active PCA members, and very skilled drivers. Their phone number is 847-304-8822.
Perfect Power in Buffalo Grove is also good. Sol's number is 847-465-8837.
You are in good hands!

All good recommendations so far.
Al at www.gocpt.com does the 993 work that I don't want to do. He's in Melrose Park.

Thanks to all for your fast responses. I'll visit each of the shops and then decide who to use. I've owned a number of Porsches in the past, and have usually done much of the wrenching myself; however, the 993 is a far more complicated car than my other 911's (1965, '70, '71, and '89). So, I need someone to go to when I think a job is beyond my abilities and tools!
I have used Jim Becker located in Naperville in the past; however, I believe that he has sold his business and am not sure they service our cars any longer.

If you check out CarsPlus (which I highly recommend) make sure you talk with Mark Hill. There are two sides to his business - the minivan oil change/tires/rotate side and the Porsche side.
