This is what NOT tightening your droplink mount tight enough looks like.

+993. they will sheer off very quickly.... id tighten with hammer/punch as well
id say its an issue aswell, You do not want the droplinks bouncing around, they will/can/have/did sheer off
over the years of working on cars and suspension I find its easy to miss one lock ring snuggle (ol hammer and punch trix)
afterall there are enough pieces inthere when doing a full suspension swap to miss one small step
funny how these cars get us anxous to puter back on all fours.
in any route, droplinks do wear out from time to time so its not a total loss.

I don't have the locking rings below either one. I counted the rings. The tight one has 12 rings below, and the loose one is 13. Is the Droplink connection point on the strut sitting "free", or is it screwed on as well. If its 'free' on the rings, I think I should defiantly get the two lock rings installed below. DO I need to remove the strut to install the lock ring, or just disconnect it from the bottom?

You need to loosen the lock ring on top first...then align the drop link to be vertical (straight up/down)...then really tighten the lock ring...drop the car back and check to make sure the drop link is vertical...any angle will make it easier for the drop link to move.
Some people feel you need to add lock ring on the bottom also...others do not. If I tracked the car...even DE...I would add the bottom lock ring. In any case if you want to add the bottom lock ring it will mean redoing your alignment at the end.

So I want to rotate the large silver connection point a little, and then retighten the black ring. If that does not work, need to break the whole thing down... BTW... it was like this with the older droplinks, as well, so the upgrade to TARRET may have been a waste then.
Car should be lifted with no load I presume as well to loosen the bottom lock ring.
