Angry No airpump .cold start problem help!

Ok...my car had a warm start problem, so I replaced the head temp sensor.

Good news warm start issue is gone. Bad news...cold start problem. Multiple tries to start and have to let warm up to drive...like on 60's muscle car.

I noticed the airpump wasn't kicking on. Is this activated by the head temp sensor? What does it do and could it be unrelated?

Also the battery went dead from sitting. Could that effect the airpump?

There is a fuse for the airpump located in the fuse/relay panel on the left side of the engine bay, 40 amp IIRC. You may want to check if it is still good.

However, I don't think the SAI airpump has any effect on starting--mine is disabled and the engine still starts perfectly, hot or cold.

Does the hts tell the airpump to kick on? If so this would tell me that I installed a bad hts.

Usually the air pump will only turn on with the first cold start of the day. It only runs for like 2min.

I can't see any way it would affect the starting or running of the car.

Well my check engine light went off and the code was engine temp sensor. So it appears I got a bad one.

This simple fix has turned into a pita! But the good news is that it take longer to jack up he car than it does to swap the parts.
