WTB engine tray (no, this is not a joke)
Not looking to start another discussion on what must be one of the hottest topics on the 993 forum.
My engine tray looks quite battered after its 64K mile long life.
I am looking into buying one in the US and having it shipped over here.
(seriously )

My gearbox protection plate was actually broken (had a fist size hole in it). Bought it from the dealer for about 350 USD, you don't even want to know the price of the engine tray from the dealer . . . :S
Looks like the locals (people on this side of the pond) are keeping their trays on, haven't seen any available locally
Now, not a word on cylinder temperature

I see what you mean. US$790 and worth every penny, I am sure.
There are/were quite a few on eBay. Shipping costs due to the volume will be a killer.
Bad timing. Last May you could have stuck it on the pallet I shipped my motorcycle over on and it would not have cost a dime due to weight/volume.

I would be able to tuck it into containers with cars heading this way, shipping is actually quite cheap, but thanks for the offer

I just checked eBay for engine trays. No luck. I guess some owners decided to keep them.

Evan, send me a PM and tell me what you would like to get for a NA tray, shipping out of LA would actually be good.
Cool Alex Just let me know if i can be of any assistance, I mean it ! I used to travel around on a Honda XR600 in the highlands up there, Iceland is a nice place for enduro/tour riding

Where are you in Norway? I plan to do Nordkapp as well, so I would be riding through. I don't tour for the t-shirt which means I like taking my time, so the summer of 2012 onwards I will have plenty of time to head elsewhere after I get my annual taste of the Alps. Those I'll never give up.

I am about 40 minutes out of Oslo, I can promise you that you will find some amazing roads to ride in this country as well. Promise me to stop by if you are passing through.
I am a great fan of the BMW touring bikes (been riding Honda´s till now), my next bike, (when time and money allows) will be a 1200GS

Well I was going to take the ferry from Hirtshals (DK) to Kristiansand. I guess I'll take it to Oslo instead and do the coast from there.

Hirtshals-Larvik is the way to go unless you are heading straight for the west coast. I would recommend crossing the mountains from the oslo are and over to the west coast instead of driving the south coast. Just let me know and I could make you a more detailed trip suggestion.
