Default Any downside to removing failing sound pad?

Other than some additional cabin noise, is there any adverse affect in removing the the engine sound pad? I'm worried about any increase in heat causing damage to the rear deck speakers and vinyl.

If you have deleted this would you do so again? If not, why?

Thanks!

mine was taken out a while ago, maybe 15,000 miles back.
no problems, I think it was strictly for sound but not 100% sure.

If it's just drooping at the edge, you can use a thin aluminum bar to hold it up tight. I found the 1/8" 1-1/2 flat stock at Home Despot and just used the existing fasteners to hold it in place once cut to fit and drilled for the studs.

I just took mine out, I've been really surprised how little difference it's made. I've noticed very, very little additional engine noise in the cabin.

Took mine out when I dropped my engine 2 years ago. Allows a little more flat six symphony into the cabin. I like it. Also, makes the engine bay cleaner and more spacious looking.

Curious if anyone has stripped factory sound deadening and used some type of undercoating spray... I think you can paint over it too?

Default Fix it

I and many others have done this easy and cheap fix.
