Default Look what I got for Christmas - My first Porsche!

This seems a bit silly, but it was really a great gift. I had mentioned this to my Mom months ago, but hadn't thought about it in a while. When I was a kid I had this little Martini Racing 935 "Hot Wheels" car that I distinctly remembered and it was the one thing that initially got me started reading about 911s and eventually led me to the Porsche fold.

So, I was over at my parent's house for Christmas and we were opening gifts. I got one small package from Mom and Dad and it upon opening, saw it was a small metal tin. I like watches, so my initial thought was that it may be one Mom picked up. Opening the tin, guess what I found nestled inside - my old Martini Porsche!! I'm pretty sure the red interior is not accurate, and it's not even a name brand car, but the doors work on it and the years of wear only make it look better! It's now proudly displayed in my living room along with other special toys I have.

Thanks Mom!

Priceless! That is awesome she saved it.

I had the old Corgi 007 Aston Martin as my first car that I really remember....I wish I still had that.

That looks very loved Bart!

My grandma bought me a gift when I was 3 years old and sick at home - a red 930 Turbo Matchbox car. It was my favorite toy when I was a kid and I had a similar experience as you did - it got me started on Porsches. I even had a "friend" steal it from me when I was about 10, only to find it in his house a couple of weeks later... I have no clue where it could be now, but would love to find it one day!

Anyway, cool story, glad you are reunited with your first Porsche

Ditto! If I had every G.I. Joe and Tonka Toy I wrecked/burned/blew up when I was a kid, I'd be rich.

Anyway, very thoughtful gift. But, time to start modding that beauty...first get spacers for the rears to fill out the flares.

Joe-- ... + baseball cards & Star Wars toys!

Bart-- Whoever thought up moms had a great idea, huh? & yours sounds especially throughtful.

More of your beloved background blue, please...

Bart, that is so absolutely cool of your parents... What a great gift!

I would love to get one of my old toys back. I had a little car collection as a kid. But they were all left in the old country and are long gone.

What your mom and dad gave you in this little Porsche, to me, is the very definition of a gift.

Absolutely cool! I can remember lots of stuff that I played with when I was a kid, but its all gone now.... but not forgotten. Definitely neat to have something real to connect to your past!

Cheers,

Mike

She is - really.

Funny story there. It's a Riviera Blue 993RS that I got as a freebie when I bought some 993 sport seats. Other stuff on there - The Pink Pig is one I picked up in Gmund at the old museum, I work for Cooper Tires, a Flying Lizard car, and there are a couple Grand Am cars signed by the drivers.

Absolutely - very thoughtful gift that probably meant more than they knew.

Indeed - Porsches are meant to be driven (and played with).
