Heck, remove the motor, and ship it to Colin at 9M

Just curious if you want/need to upgrade to a turbo tranny, too?

From what I understand our 2wd tranny is good for about 450hp or so..... So no issue with a stock 993tt motor. Too much more HP and you would need to look at a cooler of some description...

Im also going to research the TPC kit. Hum to Turbo or Supercharge??
There's likely a big difference between Steve's internally strengthened motor ($$$$) and the $12K quote for the turbo kit. If it were me, I'd go with the factory turbo motor which already has the appropriate compression ratio and strengthened internals.

While the engine will fit in the NA body you will need a fixed tail make room for the intercooler.

A plus for you is that your car is OBD-II as will be your donor engine management system (I considered this long ago but nixed the idea because my car is OBD-I and I didn't like the look of the fixed tail).

In my opinion, this swap will net you some advantages over a 993TT in steering/clutch/shifter feel.

Good luck
Joe

That's good to know. I was also thinking about gearing, too, to take optimal advantage of the turbo power/torque.

Custom SC setup done right can run up to $20k as well, trust me. 993 + Power + Dropping the top =

Depending on how much "too much more HP" we're talking about here, steel synchros would also be necessary. In fact they'd probably be necessary sooner than a cooler, unless you're hitting the track pretty heavily.

I think im heading towards the turbo kit. I think I would really enjoy installing myself over the winter. Really like Todd at Protomotive. Might upgrade to the high flow fuel injectors. Not thrilled about the turbo tail, but I think I can live with it. Started working on convincing the wife I really need this.

zs... from the looks of your avatar and present/former rides, doubt you'll have much trouble convincing your wife of the need!

I'm with you on this. You might want to check these guys out and the "sleeper" TT mod. No affiliation BTW...

I would like to drop a turbo motor into my '96 C4S -- Chris/any other of the experts -- would that be easier with the wide body and 4WD system already in place???

FWIW I don't like the wing at all -- is it really necessary?
