I'm one who doesn't get the "performance" sedan market. If I'm running around town, why bother with ~15mpg so I can aroused out of getting to 60 or 70 a half second quicker.

I keep WANTING to buy something as a runaround car, post-smart, but everything just points me into driving the C4S everywhere--from skiing last week to stuffing golf clubs in it yesterday to transporting a bunch of parts today. It's cheap, reliable, I can fix anything on it, and it's more entertaining than any sedan, even if it's slow accelerating by today's standards.

And that's the beauty of it in a nutshell

Just knowing you can when you want to

I had a 1991 lexus 400 LS with 200K and zero issues on the interior. MB tells me the headliner issues are common in AZ TX and FL due to the heat! Oh well, another weekend project!
Hey Ron, now may be the time to tackle that rattling sunroof. They supposedly all do rattle, include mine when opened. There's a quick DIY on mborg...

agreed.

I've driven everything from an E39 M5 to a new E63 to an S65, and for the most part I don't get it.

I don't see why you'd want loud, rough ride, bad gas mileage, etc for daily driving.

On the other hand, the S600 I can get into. Great power, but extremely quiet and comfortable.

fwiw, my E63 is super comfortable, not loud whatsoever (extremely quiet on the road, but sounds brilliant at WOT with the NA motor) and I can get 19 mpg (better than the 993) if I drive like a normal person. Freeway mileage approaches 23+ mpg.

I actually like the Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde personality: drive sedately, quietly, and comfortably when desired; or like a madman for entertainment.

It's also been flawless.

In the meantime I went to Staples in the 993 and bought a paper shredder. It wouldn't fit in the car. I had to go home and get the AMG.

I tend to disagree, but based on my choice of a 220 s-class, I like silent and cushy.

Yeah, it's all relative. I'm sure owners of Phantoms find the W220 to be noisy and rough riding.

But the W211 E63 is certainly not as noisy and rough riding as an E39 or E60 M5 by a long shot.

I think I do get much better mpg than a W220 S600 V12. A colleague of mine complains about her 12/18 mpg in her S600. She also calls it a "high cost, high maintenance, automotive version of Hannibal Lecter."

Uggghhhh..... I don't need to hear this. It will cause my desire for an E63 to act up again. The market for the '07 is soft due to it having the old body style. Perhaps I'll just look .. honest .. well maybe a test drive.

lol..see first post http://www.mbworld.org/forums/w211-a...-behavior.html

How long can I keep up this dual existence? Dr Jeckyl needs to make a living, but Mr. Hyde needs to hunt. It’s only a matter of time before the wife finds out I’m not having an affair….then what? If it comes down to the wife or the car, I don’t know how what I’ll do…..I can’t get rid of the E55…….HELP !!!
