Driver window switch...
#3
Thanks! I just switched the passenger one for the drivers window and now both work (just need to lean across to open passenger window). Will wait till I need something else and get a new switch later. Thanks again!

there are threads on here on how to repair that switch - IIRC the little detent ball pops out of position or something like that and it just needs repositioning. No cost.

Very very simple.
1. Pry the switch out of the door by placing a flat head screw driver between the switch and the metal door insert that is behind the switch.
2. Tie a string to the wire set as the wires are short and can slip back into the hole.
3. Pull the switch off the connector.
4. Plug the new switch onto the connector.
5. Remove string.
6. Push switch back in. DONE in 3 minutes.
I have 2 new switches available for sale. $25 ea. including shipping in CONUS. These are normally $45 + shipping from Pelican etc.. PM me if interested. Thanks.

I have gone through a couple of these. I think the replacement switches sucks and are not the same as the original switch. I ended up fixing the original ones and putting them back. All you need is to replace the middle rocker part with a metal rod. I think I used a metal coat hanger or a aluminum type tent stake. I think you may need to drill a hole - I forget.

Question: i took the 'working' driving side off to use on the passenger side to get the window up. But it didn't work. Does that make sense?
Can I just connect 2 of the pins to 'manually' get the window up (it's winter you know!)?

Three Wheelin'
There a many threads on this topic on Rennlist.
The repair is a 1 on a scale of 10.
A switch can be OEM [not expensve] or aftermarket [inexpensive].
This seems to be a weekly question like oil and tire pressure.

I purchased the non-OEM versions last year. I figured that even if the non-OEM switches didn't work, I was only out about $40 (for three!) Less than the cost of one OEM. They look the same and work fine a year later. I like OEM but in this case I couldn't justify the costs since the OEM are likely are not made by Porsche anyway
