Default Replace Cassette

I have a '96 993 with the cassette holder at the rear of the center stick shift counsel. I have obviously upgraded the stereo to CD and I am wondering if any of you know of a mod or upgrade to get rid of them for a cup holder, coin tray or anything besides cassettes?

Thanks!

There is an OEM tray that is 100 times more convenient and useful. Dealer sell it in $39-40 range. I might have one extra for sale as well, cheap.

Stace, I'm bidding on one like yours right now. If I am not lucky, where did you get your double cup holder?

Yep, Chris is right, they've come down in price in teh last few year (must be one of teh very few P-parts that did so ).

I'll let mine go for $20 shipped than.

Ohm on the cupholder issue. Thel P-cupholder that fits between the seats is nice, but doesn't take more than a can f soda or a specially narrow-bottom coffee cup. I prefer a VW-part solution that is a double cupholder and fits onto the center tunnel in front of the passenger seat.

I got the cupholder from our fine friends across the pond in the UK. does just fit a can of soda or smaller cup but its nicely made, covered in leather and fits perfectly.

Here you go: http://www.worldimpex.com/parts/genu...nla_54504.html A view in teh car here: http://files.automotiveforums.com/up...5cupholder.jpg A discussion on Rennlist regarding this: https://rennlist.com/forums/993-foru...can-i-buy.html

The price is ridiculous, it's usually going for $20-30. There's also a bunch of aftermarket options very similar to this one.

And in immortal words of a person whose name eludes me: "In a Porsche _you are_ the cup holder".

Found exactly what I was looking for on Pelican parts; 964-552-159-00-1DB-OEM for $27.25
You will also need the insert that covers the screws, part number 993-552-091-00-OEM for $9.50

Thanks for the part number to search NeufCentOnze. Added some Red OEM mats while I was at it.

I'd suggest you upgrade the stereo too if you're still using CD's
Get a suitable line to plug a cheap iPod into the Aux socket (assuming you're not going down the Bluetooth route)
