Default question about 993 sports seats...

1. does anyone know what year/model 911 this style sports seat made it's first appearance ? and,

2. did these seats make an appearance in any of the first years of the 996 ?

3. would you install these seats in your 993 if you could get them, (despite that your car didn't come with this option) ?

1 & 2) The first 2 photos are 993 hard back seats MY96-98. The last one is a 996 hard back seat - MY99+.

3) I already did.

you sure about that last photo?

looks like a 993 HB to me, specificallly an RS(?) full manual with contrasting center color.

at least I think...see I have been paying attention here.

Now what was I supposed to be doing today?

and to the OP, the 993 HB's are a dream, comfortable and spectacuarly beautiful. The best of luck finding a set!

oops, didn't see the third picture-only the two. Sorry ilko, 996-yep.

Have these in my car. Look good, supremely comfortable, keep me from sliding around. A minor nit is that the outside edges of the leather seat back use a rubber gripper friction fit. About half way down the outside of the seat back (in your first two pics, where the edge of the leather bends toward the the rear of the car) the edge pulls loose slightly and must be "tucked under" to the proper position every few weeks.

My 95 had them.

A must have for many 993 guys.

The 996s all had these seats available. They are different from the 993 seats. Not direct bolt on.

996 Sport seats sell for $1200 range 993s sell for $3500 to 4000 mint.

GL!

Like their looks, do not like leather (too hot in the summer, hot at the track, cold in winter) so am running cloth seats...much better!

(God, flame suit on..)

much thanks, you all.

i didn't think i could find nice 993/996 sports seats when i first went shopping... L.A. Porsche had the set i wanted for 8,000 dollars. oops. so i went ahead and sourced these for my 968.... they're made with a thicker, softer leather than the standard "milano prestige" seats. they were 4 grand without the sliders. but well worth it. they never get too hot as some seats seem to do. never thought about hot seats until you mentioned it, lol. don't feel that cold in winter because i'm almost never driving the car in that cold a weather. must confess that i've never noticed that either. had them now about 3 years and they still look new. i modded the original recaro sliders to accommodate them and it's all good...

but the bad is that they don't say "Porsche" on them. so i'm now having second thoughts.

Bot my cars have sport seats, mid year 95's got the hardbacks, early 95's have the 964 style, that actually holds you in better.

Besides the hard back, & color, there are power options, & of course heated seats.

Love'em in the C4S. Likely wouldn't bother with a 993 that had regular seats. Had not driven the car in 3 days until today, and the 25 miles each way sure goes easy when I can settle in.

If that's a male cat, then I hate to tell you this but that P-car is now his.... its been 'marked'. Obviously cats with good taste.
