since they've owned there 993? If so, do you have any regrets?

I agree! 930 all the way!!

I have a friend selling a very unique 930. Very rare color called Cassis. '87 model, modified to increase the torque curve, with a sh!tload of HP to the ground. We need to keep this one in the family...I wish I could buy it!! So just passing along to the worthy...

Is that sort of a rose quartz color? Is it here in Austin?

I had a white 87 930 with a Euro exhaust, Kokeln intercooler, adjustable boost controller ... man, that was a fun car.

I've had a couple of 3.2 Carreras in between various 993s ... wonderful cars, a little underpowered in comparison, of course, but bursting with character, lots of fun. Just don't have high hopes for the AC and you'll really enjoy it. One warning on the clutch on those years, if the pedal is firm at all, it needs a needle bearing, the correct clutch on that car is as light as a Honda (or a 993) ... and make sure your PPI checks the head studs, they are not as prone to breaking as the 911SC, but they can let go and you'll never know from just driving the car.

I think I've owned an example of every 911 model generation at some point with the exception of a G50 3.2 Carrera. Although once I test drove a minty '88 that was the "special" one from that year. Commemorative edition I think. I owned a 993 at the time and I remember being disappointed in the '88.

k..all good info..well here's the story. Back in 90 I bought my office mate 951, and he and I went looking for the cleanest 88 911. We found a low mileage mint red on black FS due to a divorce. I told him then when you're ready to sell I want the first choice. The car is in better shape than when he bought it. He called me this morning and told me he's thinking about selling to upgrade to a..............................................996. So I'm just thinking...u know...

Yep, that's the one, here in Austin.

Trinitony - you can't beat that combination of cars in your garage.

My buddy, Bobby, and I switched cars for a matter of days about 6 years ago, just to get a feel for the differences 930 vs 993. I fell in love hard with his 930. It has always been my dream car, and to feel it's thunder and verve was just incredible. I vividly remember getting on the throttle on the frontage road at IH35 and Woodland, and hearing that rumbling scream of an exhaust. Ooh, it just made my hair stand on end!! Wow! So visceral!! If I could have another Porsche, that would be it.

I haven't (yet), but that may be my next car. I have driven one a good bit. I like the simplicity and servicability. Also miss the bazooka tube headlights from the driver's seat on a 993 compared to previous generations.

My 87 cab is one of the few cars that I really regret selling.
Not fast, just great fun. Beautifully raw compared to today's cars, but still easy to drive.
Did I mention that I miss it?

Sometime it's hard to go back. Switched with a friend one time for about an hour, my then 993 for his '85 Targa. It felt slow and unrefined. Was glad to have my 993 back. Depends what you expect from the car I suppose. Most fun car of all was my '91 965 with a Tial wastegate and GHL exhaust. Sucker had close to zero lag and just pushed you into the seat at any sane speed, I really miss that car and is the one I wish I'd kept.
