Sell them both and buy one of these. Best of both worlds, classic looks with modern drivetrain.

Should've kept the 930 Ruf you once had.
Seriously, I vote to keept the Boxster. From the way you write about the cars, that's the one you're stronger attached to. BTW, nothing wrong with having an economical four-seater-appliance-car for when you need e.g. take people with you or visit Ikea.

Thanks for all the replies and ideas boyz. There are worse fates I suppose than to have to pick 1 or the other of these pups.

Thought about a new Boxster Spyder. I don't realy see it being that much of an upgrade over the one I have now. And then I'd still be stressing about wearing out a brand new car. Also, I've got a '99 VW Eurovan shop truck that can haul extra peeps when necessary.

And I'm not a turbo-911 guy, I guess, for lack of a better word. They just seem to be "too much" for puttering around. The 993tt S that I was just involved in was (to me) kinda "blah" to drive after both of these cars. In fact, I thought the guy who traded the '05 997 S would have second thoughts after arriving in that car and immediately getting into the '97 TT S. He loved it though so to each his own.

I guess I do have some 993 content after all. A very pretty door panel

Based on the first post you mentioned you needed the back seat => 997S
But the following contributions it seems more clear that you like the Boxman the best. If you 'really" don't need the seats keep the Boxman, sell the 997S quickly as it is depreciating faster...

Nice problem to have..

Saw the 997S up Akers, and it's a very sharp looking version with great wheels. As Dan said, nice problem to have. I might be interested if you decide not to keep it, as the spyders shortcomings in the wet Seattle winters is already making itself apparent, thus necessitating some sort of 997/993 for a winter beater... :0

Good to know thanks

Although the idea of this one as a "beater" is good reasoning for the sad face thingy-gizmo.

Man, I thought you were crazy to think of the Spyder as a winter car.

Very cool. How much $?

But not exactly the answer to Kie's conundrum.

You can only drive one @ a time, so I don't see a problem keeping both.

I know, but I had just finished reading all about this car, it is something I would buy if I had the coin.
The price vary quit a bit depending on the options you choose, my understanding is somewhere between $150k -250k

+1, but what concerns me most is taking it in the shorts if you tried to sell the Boxster. Unless you have months to wait for the "right" buyer, I expect that you'd get pennies on the dollar for your big buck mods. That would be a deal-killer for me. A car like that you build to hold long term.

Personally, I think hot rod Boxsters are bad ***. That would be near the top of the list if I were to add a water pumper.

Yeah I hear you on this. At least for me, in this situation, the lower initial cost of the car helps to offset the cost of all the mods and my time/labor. I mean, it (the dead '05 987) wasn't free but but the po was so po'd he was grateful to get anything for it.

But really the value of either car isn't in the equation for me. Whatever I stand to make/lose on either would be water under the bridge. Once I decide which fish to throw back in the ocean I'll sell it for whatever it goes for.

Hopefully no one will trade me some other interesting car that might work for me as a dd and subsequently put me right back here
