Default Fister Stage III vs. Motor Sound Exhaust

Who's gone from the factory motor sound to the Fister StageIII exhaust system??

What can I expect for the difference in sound and loudness? >20% -50% increase?

I have a spare set of Gillet mufflers that I am considering sending to Darin for modification and ceramachrome finish.

Thanks!

there's no comparison. motorsound package is barely different than stock. Stage III's - whole other other animal. there are a number of sound clips of the various fister mod mufflers here at Rennlist. the search feature should be useful.

Very, very, very happy going from MS mufflers to STG IIs. When I did a little drive in a car with STG III's I was still very pleased with my STG II's.

Louder then stock, still civil under most conditions, & sounds like a Porsche should!

JUST DO IT!!

I've heard the sound and video clips, but I wanted to get some fresh perspective particularly from those migrating from MS to StageIIIs. Thanks! I'll be packing up the spare exhaust and sending them down to Darin.

You won't be disappointed, Harlan. I have Stage I's on the coupe and I've driven Mark's cab with Stage II's and Darin's coupe with Stage III's. There's really no appreciable difference that can be heard inside the car's except an overall lower, fuller tone. You really can't tell there's been a change until you crack a window or the sunroof, then you get a beautiful, low gurgle at idle and a more robust, fuller sound under throttle with compression feedback that will make you smile every time. However, when you stand behind the car and have someone gun it, they will blow the socks off your feet....

I went from the stock motor sound package to stage IIs and there was a pretty big difference. The stage IIs are quite civil but have alot more sound over the stock ms package, especially at WOT. They are quite tame if you manage the throttle position.

Then I changed out the stage IIs to stage IIIs. The stage IIIs have quite a bit more sound (bite) than the stage IIs and are night and day different over the stock ms package.

It is difficult to sneak around the neighborhood with the stage IIIs.

Hope this helps

Personally, I prefer stage II. I think they are perfect for a street car. I have driven stage III and I think they are just too loud for my tastes.

I haven't even bought my 993 yet and am already looking at mods like exhaust.

Anyway, what is the ballpark cost for Fister I, II and II?

It's so subjective.. I think it comes down to personal preference. In my situation, I
didn't want my car to sound "faster" than it really is. I chose stage IIs.

Here is a sound comparison video I made last month:
