Winter is getting closer in the north east and soon my speed yellow baby will need to go into winter hibernation. I am considering buying a car cover to put over the car, which is to be stored in a warm garage. Good idea? If so, any recommendation on what type of cover to get?

imho, if you have a nice warm clean garage there's really no need for a cover. Only if you anticipate cats or mice or birds or misc whatever dropping onto the car. But if you're just more comfortable using a cover, this are very good: http://www.calcarcover.com/cover_about.aspx

I have a Porsche OEM cover for the C4S. Came with the car. I've only used it just once when I had the car at a parking garage in Manhattan for a few days. It is thick and soft with extra padding on the inside of the bumpers, water repellent, etc. I was really impressed with it. I don't know much about it other than it's silver and has a red Porsche logo on the bag and the hood portion of the cover.
I've used several different Covercraft products in the past and although I liked them, they can't touch the quality of the Porsche cover.

+1 the OEM car cover I had on my 993.
I would put a bunch of rat traps around the car. You don't want those critters feasting on your wiring harness.

I have the OEM Silver Porsche cover as well. I use it to store the car for the winter in the garage. Seems to breathe well, with no moisture gathering underneath. I also fold up two blankets and place on the rear fenders underneath the cover to offer additional padding. I have a small garage and it seems like the rear fenders are just targets for anything "passing by."
Additionally, I use the cover outside in the summer if the car is going to sit outside for any extended period of time. Work well to keep the sun, dirt and droppings off the car.
