Shoot first and ask questions later? Oh wait. Maybe I'm getting mixed up with another one of your recent posts.

Jeez, what a snot-nosed little whipper snapper.

Stationed out of 32nd Street Naval Station in San Diego. Drove a Volvo 242GT at the time. Have photos but they're all on 35mm slides, need to get them converted.

Middle school. Wishing I had a Honda MB5 (or the Lambo from Cannonball Run).

A year short of legally being able to drink (like I cared), a year under my belt at a "we'll fix anything, but sorta specialize in Datsun/BMW/Fiat" auto repair shop/gas station. Complete with an SCCA H Production Fiat 850 gunning to go to Road Atlanta for Nationals that year.

And me, Porsche-wise, I'd grown out of the '68 as a wannabe 2.0S and had scored a 2.7 engine to do an RS conversion on. The 930/IROC bodywork was hung, and the car was rolling on some spiffy wide Gotti wheels; but paint was still about a year away.

Oh, and to get back on topic with JP's original post............I probably had the opportunity to buy a Speedster or two for $3 or $4K. Seems like monthly a semi-beater one was for sale. But who'd want a (then) 25 year old Porsche that needed at least that much in work to make nice? No way any Speedster was going to be worth over $10K. Right?

That 356 is gorgeous!

If I'd been in my 30's in the early 80's, I would have spent all of my time buying and storing Speedsters, 2.7 RS, 289/427 Cobras and DB4s.....

In '82 I was ten and my ride at the time was a Raleigh Commando.....

Three speed twist grip gear shift by Sturmey Archer and no cross bar, so endless jibes about me riding a girl's bike.

That year my parents drove an XJ-S, a Ford Fiesta XR2 Mk1 and a V8 Land Rover County.....those were the days!

I utterly loved that XR2 and would have one in a heartbeat if we had the space. Maybe next year when we move......

In '82, my parents had a 1978 & 1980 Ford Fiesta's along with a number of other cars. The Fiesta was an absolute blast.
