and how will you know which resistor failed?
you might get a misfire code but I haven't seen that happen...
so you would need to test each. fun!

I didn't say the Bosch didn't include boots, sorry if my post wasn't clear.
you will need to remove boots, slip into grommet, reinstall boot

Mark, and what if one has failed and based on the condition of the wires, you wouldn't be replacing them for years to come. You'd still have a failed unit.

I'll be testing each resistor as I assemble the wires.

BTW, I'll also test the old and new Beru wire at work. We just got a very nice breakdown tester.

Not an issue using silicone spray. Besides, I have to replace one of my grommets.

Working on these is fun, so it is hardly a chore.

huh?

not sure what ya mean but my only point is that these are a maintenance item and part of the complete job.

I will be doing a 60K maintenance on my cab soon and will be replacing the wires with a Beru set.
I like working on these cars (maybe too much) but really don't enjoy the tedious nature of aligning and R&Ring each of the 12 wires and their related components. To each their own...

What I'm saying is I don't see the point to changing a complete harness when the plug caps with resistors are in good shape and can be re-used.

Once I have my harness together, its no more difficult to install it than a ready made set.

I'll let you know how it turns out...this job is a walk in the park.

the odds are very slim that a new resisitor will fail in a short period of time.
The odds are much greater that it will fail after many miles/years of exposure to a harsh environment
This is why they are replaced with the rest of the assembly

I am not saying it's "hard", just tedious... in my opinion.
Glad you are looking forward to it... that is what matters. Enjoy!

If quality control is in place, usually no, but things either fail when new or last a long time till they do fail.

I don't know if this answers your question but the ends on these things un-screw. That is the wires themselves screw into the attached ends. It makes it much easier to install the tin grommets but for myself I would much rather get a complete new Beru set with all the grommets and clips in place. It makes a already tedious job much easier.

I don't even want to think about how much money I've spent w/ Amazon, I don't think I've ever had a bad transaction. That being said I've never bought Porsche parts thru them.

As already explained by another member, the wires unscrew and screw into the plug caps.

Each wire end has one of these crimped onto them...

Well a Beru or Bosch part from them is the same part you'd get from anyone else selling the same parts.

I've shopped from them lots of times. No issues.

yes, but I think the matter in question is after sales support.

YMMV

Mark, I've bought stuff off eBay etc. The number of times I've had an issue with any mail order outfit I can count on one finger in the last 20 years...sort of like not having AAA and saving 35 years of dues while only needing one $112 tow in that time period. Maybe I'm lucky.

Exactly, I can tell you it was an absolute hassle with my experience because they were selling a product they were not an authorized dealer for. In my situation Bilstein would not work with them or me. Good luck with your purchase. Hope all goes well.
