Default Spark Plug Wires on Amazon

I was on Amazon this morning and used the search function for Porsche parts and ran across Bosch wires for a 993 for $285. I don't know how to post the link to the page so use this in a search window on Amazon:

Bosch 09264 Premium Spark Plug Wire Set

I was tempted to buy a set even though I don't need them at this price. They also are running a Mobil One rebate of $15 back off each 6 pack, limit 2.

Hope someone can take advantage of these wires.

OE Porsche wire sets for our 993's are usually Beru. They're the ones w/ the clips/grommets already on.

I've never seen Bosch wire sets but that certainly doesn't mean they don't exist and are perfectly acceptable.

Amazon caries the Beru set, with clips, etc.:

Beru

..and I think a FD Motorsports decal looks much better in the back window than a Amazon decal

I just ordered a set. They also mention a lifetime warranty on them. Bosch should be a good wire set.

It certainly is a deal at that price. The boots look correct.

Mind you, there is no reason for any of these sets to cost what they do.

And in the end, I'm making up my own set using Beru components for myself and a few others for about $80.

For the Bosch wires on Amazon, can you just re-use the clips & misc mounting parts from your old Beru's? (I've never done wires on my car....but will probably need to at some point in the next couple of years...)

Those clips are all available separately, so I'd think you can re-use them off your old Beru wire set.

I have never looked at amazon for car parts before. They list a "premium clutch kit" for my 95 993 for less than $100 What gives. Anyone know anything about amazon parts?

with this Bosch set, how would you get that boot on that goes around the wires that go through the engine tins? part 21 in the above pic

Alex, sorry to be a broken record on this topic but just to be clear, that doesn't include the plug boots which contain the resistors... that do fail.

I hear you on the price for these sets. They are definitely priced for their "unique-ness", not the cost of the components.
There is also value in the time the Beru set saves. But that is up to the individual and their time valuation

You can reuse the looms and grommets. Swapping them over is pretty tedious and lining them up properly is "fun".
With the Bosch wires you will also need to unscrew the boots to feed them through the engine tin grommet.
This is the advantage of the Beru set... but at a cost, of course.

Mark, the Amazon link in post #6 above show the wire set as being complete with plug boots. The description does not state otherwise unless I missed something.

As far as the resistor in a boot failing is concerned, since that cannot be predicted, one should not assume that they will fail the next day. And if one does fail, just as they could on a new set of wires, I'll just replace the failed unit.
