Exactly. Forget the crazy stupid price, the car hits my "want" target like few cars do these days. I'm sure they'll all be sold as soon as proper orders are accepted. Again, some things just aren't about the money. And no, I can't afford it. If I could, I'd have already made a deposit today. Guess I'm just dumb.

What's with the pricing on these "special" models? Like someone else said it is an insult to real car lovers (who actually want to drive them) and the only people that can afford them are the "Seinfelds" out there.

Sorry, I don't see the allure of this try-hard "Speedster".

When a manufacturer's website brags about all the differences it's "special" car has, and then it's mostly about different carpeting, fuel filler door, badging and headlights, you know you're getting screwed. They're probably charging an extra $100K for those cosmetic stupidities.

Pass.
the same can be said about those 993 speedsters that everyone seemingly drools over

Yes, it's beautiful, yes for that money it should be better engined, but the irony of it all is, there are people out there that will pay these prices, but probably not me, not right now at least.

I don't think there is enough differentiating this over a standard cab. The 964 Speedster had such a cool look to it and you knew that it wasn't a standard car, this one, however, just has two extra bulges.

Heinz. Come hier. Schnell.

Ich sehe wir habenz all zez 997 body parts collectin se dust. Was can ve do mit zem? Auch aber all dieses blau paint?

Ich got es! Wir machen dem Speedster! Und charge double. Nein! Make zat TRIPLE! Give it ein PDK only! Das posuers mussen feel comfor-table- they only ones who buy dieses pig.

Nein machen dem fenders fat! SEHR FAT! GROSSEN FATTER!! It look mach schnell now.

Nein Mr. Piech. Wir verstahen dem original Speedster waz about taking dem zings away. Leaven dem very essence of ein sports car. We vill- how do you say?? LADLE ze crap on. No one remember anyway. Der nehman hat PIZZAZ! Speedster! Mach Schnell at traffic light!! Verstehen Sie??

Ja, ja. Wir weissen sie can buy ein Turbo cab mit grossen more power, vier wheel drive und es ist cost one third less.

Aber dieses Speedster ist EXCLUSIV! Und dieses "Speedster" hat ein grossen rear end!! It make Oprah look like Kate Moss!!! Verstehen??? HAr! HAr! Jerry Zeinfeld vill want zwei!! VE sell all dem parts!! Ich bin ein marketing GENIUS!!

To summarize for the Deutsch impaired- if you want an overweight, overpriced, begoogled, blingy, fat rear ended pig of a Porsche that only comes with an automatic transmission and can be said to be "exclusive" you don't need to buy a Panamera- now there's a 911 just for you!

Imagine that, a limited production, special edition, expensive Porsche. What will they think of next. Personally I really like it.

From PorschePurist:

* Limited-production special model with numerous styling changes

* Shortened windshield, wider rear fenders, chopped-down manual soft top, Fuchs-style Sport Classic wheels

* Numerous interior customization touches, including checkerboard seat trim, painted panels

* 408-hp naturally-aspirated 3.8-litre flat-six; PDK gearbox with paddle shifters

* Celebrates 25 years of Porsche Exclusive, company’s individualization/special wishes department

* Only 356 copies available worldwide. In the U.S., the 911 Carrera Speedster will be available beginning in early 2011, MSRP will be $204,000.
