Hi
Ditto the kerb and opening the door. Another favourite is getting a young child out with the door fully open and her **** pointing out into the road. I live on a road with a park in it and see that all the time. Have seen doors hit that way twice, though have never seen them completely sheared off.

Years ago it was like that Nick Cage movie "WEATHERMAN". Punks would throw crap out windows at me, reach out and try to slap me as they drove by. The last time that happened, I caught them at the next redlight and bitch slapped the kid back-man was he surprised.
Every State/City etc treats their cyclists differently. In Central New York, there simply isn't that many of us out on the road at any given time-especially in the winter months.
You ride aware-defensive riding, like defensive driving. If I didn't ride my bikes-road/mtn/cyclocross, I would take a hostage damn near everyday.
get out and ride, just be aware.

No one walks in LA, and I'd rather be hit by a pedestrian than a texting girl in an SUV.

News reports it was a man driving that opened his door and received a ticket

...
The incident occurred about 2:15 today when David Earl Hartman Sr. of Newport Beach opened his door just as a wine delivery service driver, who gave his name only as Sean, drove past.
Hartman said the truck driver was “coming real fast.”
“He came so close, I literally had nowhere to go,” he said.
The driver said the car door flung open suddenly against his truck, and he didn’t have a chance to stop the accident.
Witnesses said the truck driver stopped immediately after the incident.
“He (the Porsche driver) was getting out of the car, swinging his door open,” said one Corona del Mar man, who said he witnessed the entire incident and called police.
Police gave Hartman a ticket. Hartman said the officer told him, “You’re at fault, just sit there.”
...
Hartman said the car was about eight months old and worth $185,000. No damage estimate was immediately available.

So that's the guy, his wife and two kids in the first picture. The guy is wearing a NY Nicks t-shirt.
Even if I just wrecked my car, my wife would not be leaning up against it that way texting on her phone.

That's very close to my work. Thanks for stopping to take pictures and sharing them. This is very amusing indeed.
Reminds me of a very expensive sedan that got damaged in a low speed accident in the Crystal Cove parting lot. The driver got out, took a look at what had happened to his car and then got back in and drove off. There's just no sense of how expensive these vehicles are, mostly because to many people around here they're not "expensive" at all.
