Do the engines have any number on them, that may match up to the car?

If so where and how do they match up?

The engine number code is located on the engine block, on the right side of the crankcase, next to the fan housing.

On pages 583 - 586 of Streather's "Porsche 993 The Essential Companion", there are four tables of engine number ranges that match to ranges of VIN numbers.

The experts can correct me, but I don't think that matching numbers is a big deal for most types of 993s, unless a buyer was concerned that an original engine had blown up and been replaced by a used engine of higher mileage.

The only situation I can think of where it would be of concern, is in the case of the purchase of a rare model of 993, such as one of the fourteen turbo cabs that were built "...while Wendelin Weidekin was looking the other way...," or a Carrera RS.

3. An icon and the most successful and recognised automobile in the world.
4. Overall retained value (Cabs in particular) if you look at cars of any kind over 15 years old what has a bigger following and demand? NOTHING ! ! ! Applies to 356's also
5. Silver/Black- Classic German combo, always desirable, but then so is virtually any Porsche 911 in any color at all.
6. They dont build them any more and with each passing year there will always be less available.
I could go on and on, but why? Go for it, their simply is nothing like it. Just remember the PPI.

If the PPI works out and the price is fair to you, go for it. Trust me on this, you'll never regret it.

I gotta say, from the pictures and description, this looks like a nice, well kept car. How did the PPI go? Any surprises?
I just bought my Cab in July up in Seattle. Good PPI so wired the money right there, jumped in the car the next morning and drove home 800 miles south. The only problem I had was my jaw hurt from smiling so much ...

Is it true these wheels were optional in 97? I always thought they were aftermarket...

Also, does anyone know what the logo on the original windshield would be (what manufacturer)?

My windscreen says 'Sigla' and has some numbers which may be a Porsche part number. The PO said it was original.

I'd be surprised if those were OEM optional wheels but they may be dealer optioned.

I believe those wheels are the 18" Porsche factory "Sport Design" wheels

I rode in a friends 2009 997C4S super fast, smooth, and refined compared to my 1995 993 Triple Black Cab, but still prefer 993, I previously had a 82 911SC Targa and at times I miss that as the manual steering and kickback gave a closer connection to the road.
The only temptation I had to seriously get rid of the 993 was a 97 993TT and that deal fell through otherwise I would have bought it, though I probably would miss the top down experience but I was willing to trade that for how unbelievably fast the TT felt.
