The exhausts (based on the photos as far as I can see) look like our early 94/95 993. AFAIK our has stock exhaust or at least it sure sounds stock and the PPI from an experienced indie said it was stock.

I can't speak to your 997 experience but the 993 my wife recently bought for us is all I ever wanted in my old SC. It is the peak of P-experience.

Maybe whoever put together the chart wasn't able to get the info for those years and models - just a guess...

BlackonBlack, if you are still looking for a cab a friend of mine in Eastern Tenn has a beautiful Silver/Black cab that he would like to sell since he has too many cars, he is 2nd owner and he bought it with very low miles, let me know if interested, It is a 1996 993 cab.

Yes, I may be interested.

Is there a listing that I could look at? Manual trans?

I got the window sticker of the one I am looking at and I noticed an option for 17 inch Cup Design Rims, anyone know anything about these?

Though the rims in the picture seem to be the standard ones, right? or are these the cup rims? It's a $1440 option so I just didn't think these were them.

I was also hoping to see an option for big oval exhaust tip, but none, guess they are aftermarket.

It is also showing Arctic Silver with a black top as a $1034 option, didn't know Arctic silver was a special color then.

John, if you want a cabriolet that's collectable have you considered a speedster or america roadster? I understand the apeal of the 993 but IMO the speedster (3.2 or 964) will be more desireable in the long run and just as much fun to drive. If you can find one they did make a few 993S cabs, I know someone on Rennlist has one.

Okay, I am gearing up to purchase the car.

A couple of questions for you guys:

First, on the original window sticker of the car there is an $1440 option that says "17" Wheels w/Cup Design Rims"

I'm pretty sure the wheels in the pictures of the ad are the standard ones, right? If so, someone simply switched the wheels to standard ones (unlikely, a downgrade) or something fishy is going on, like pictures of a different car.

heres the add:

What do you think, are those even 17 inch wheels? Or are they the Cup designs after all?

Also, what do you think about driving the 993 on a 800 mile 13 hour drive back home?

The wheels in the picture are the optional 17" cup II wheels. The standard wheels were 16".

If you got a PPI and had the oil changed, drive it home!

How comfortable (or uncomfortable) do you think it would be?

I think the standard seats are pretty comfortable. You will be nervous but excited. Every time you stop to fill up you will stare at the rear of the car and smile.

DO IT!

Had one, got rid of it never looked back. Get yourself an 05-08 997 and forget that old air cooled piece of !@#. You can get them at about the same price and you will have a modern car with the 993 looks. Stop buying those old cars that smell like, well, old cars.
