Default For anyone who has fitted RS engine mounts....

Has anyone fitted RS engine mounts to their relatively stock C2/C4/C2S/C4S and not modified their engine carrier?

If haven't modified your engine carrier, have you seen any damage caused to the engine carrier or other areas?

I don't track my car and I'm not planning any major power increases, so do I really need to modify the carrier if I fit RS mounts?

Is there any evidence of non-modified engine carrier failure following the fitting of RS engine mounts?

I've had the RS Motor mounts on my 993 for about a year and haven't seen any damage and have had zero issues. Andreas has them on his car as well, and he has also not suffered from any damage. Neither of us have the engine carrier modified. Hope this helps!

I'm not willing to take the chance, will be installing the rennline reinforcement along with stiffer engine mounts this winter.

I put RS engine mounts in last summer. No mods to the carrier. No issues.

WEVO solid mounts for 2+years now. No carrier mods, a few track days at Sebring, no problems at all.

I think mine were put in by the PO about 6 years ago. I've had the car for 5... no problem yet.

Awesome feedback guys, thanks so much.

Tognola here in the UK, who are my Porsche specialist said they have fitted many RS engine mounts over the years with no carrier mod. Guess what? No problems. They said you only need to worry if increasing displacement to 3.8 or increasing the power considerably another way.

As the King of Detergent states - I'm very pleased with the RS mounts. The very slight increase in engine 'feel' is easily overshadowed by the stark simplicity of the mounts.

I believe that I read somewhere that you only should think about mounts if you team up the RS mounts with an RS tranny mount, could be completely off on that though!

RS Mounts in the 993 for a year, no issues. Wevo mounts in the 964 for 2 years, no issues. The cars are not tracked.

FYI on the Rennline doubler -- do yourself a favor and open-up the access hole for the coil mounting nuts as with the doubler welded into place, access to the coil mounting is rediculous.

Good Advice, it is tough with the existing holes.

I have RS mounts and broke my engine carrier (mainly track car), I reinforced the carrier myself (1 week prior to rennline releasing their product).

+1 on the coil bolt holes. I have the Rennline gusset installed. Totally stupid. Can't get the coil off without removing the carrier. Also, it's wayyyy more stiff. Matched with Wevo (soft) they will send unbearable noise, vibration, and resonance in and out of the cabin.

Witt the RS mounts it's perfect however.
