Default Got Sport Seats, Want To Reupholster...

I've been looking for a set of blue softback sport seats for a while now with no success. I just found a set of the 944/964 sport seats (same seat, different stitching pattern), but in black. I'm thinking of having them reupholstered in blue. Does anyone have any recommendations of a shop that does quality work at a decent price? The seats are currently in Sonoma so a NorCal shop would be ideal but I'm willing to have them shipped.

Thanks!

My recommendation would be to have them shipped locally near you prior to the recovering. Paterek Bros in Chatham, NJ is very well known and does amazing work, however I heard they are relatively expensive. The other local place is Coachworks, in Lodi, NJ. They recovered a sunroof liner for me and did a perfect job for a reasonable price. The advantage of shipping the seats before they are recovered is that you don't risk any damage to them. Do you have your fabric or are you expecting the shop to supply it? I provided my own fabric.

Try Tony Garcia at Autobahn Upholstery in north San Diego. I think there are a few people here who are familiar with his work. The seats will look like they were done at the factory when he's finished with them and he doesn't charge an arm and a leg.

I would also like to source a great upholstery shop in NorCal.

IMO, the ONLY way to do this job properly is to order an OEM comparable hide from www.gahh.com and have your seats professionally recovered by a local authorized installer... (they have all the factory colors, even the special order ones)

That is where I sourced my material for my sunroof headliner. Most shops will work with fabric you supply.

Here's a NorCal shop (Silicon Valley area). I haven't dealt with them, but they are supportive of our local PCA chapter. Worth a look-see I would imagine.

If you're willing to pay for a good re-skin, couldn't you just have them make
"sport seats" by adding bolstering?

unless you're a stickler for porsche part #s?

dye is a very temporary solution, also, does not work on cracked or worn leather..

Ilko, nice grab BTW. I think the time lapsed between the ad being posted and you buying them was about 3 minutes and the time lapsed between the next guy saying "I'll take them" was about 5 seconds ....:-0 That's the beauty of knowing what you want, what it's worth and being present when it's offered ...

jaa1,

Have any experience you would care to share ?

I have read good things about www.bryndana.com products (no affiliation) when it comes to durability.

Cracked and worn leather can easily be fixed by filling and sanding.

9 minutes actually and I couldn't believe nobody snatched them before I did

Thanks everybody for the replies, looks like I have some homework to do. The easiest thing would be to just install them the way they are and then find a set of late 964 black rear seats (like the ones I sold for $50 a few months ago ) and call it a day. I already have a couple of black pieces in the car - 996 3-spoke steering wheel, floor mats, etc. But I'll look into all options before I make a decision.

BTW, this thread is very inspiring: https://rennlist.com/forums/964-foru...irst-pics.html
