Hell yeah! Life's too short for garage queens! You cant take your 993 with you when you die. These fantastically engineered cars were meant to be driven! My PCA region founder has his original 912, purchased new in 68 and still daily drives it with 375k in engine.

Richard:
You might have read the article in Excellence last year about a dentist's 3.2 Carrera that went 400,000 miles, and when the engine was torn down, there was essentially no wear. The tech cleaned it and re assembled it. This car was apparently well looked after, and was driven 100 miles to work almost every day.
The 3.2 is less stressed than the 3.6, and I've wondered just how far our engines could go before major overhaul. Maybe yours will set that mark.
I've noticed that most of the high mileage engines in daily driver type cars are operated in milder climates, and their owners have long daily drive cycles.

Congratulations! Taking good care of his car must pay some reward!
I think when the engine oil is warm you could drive forever at a normal pace. My BMW drive 300km each time I go to work. My first 525i went up to 450000km, and the second one is now 340000km and running like new! a long highway stretch with no gear change, excellent road conditions... Even my bumpers are the first ones and still passing the yearly test!

110,000 miles here, and no real probs. Engine has never been out, UK car, so no SAI to worry about. I've had it 8 years as a daily driver and intend to keep it until I'm too old to drive it.

I've noticed that most of the high mileage engines in daily driver type cars are operated in milder climates, and their owners have long daily drive cycles.
Major repairs: 1) clutch and slave cylinder ~ 90k. 2) alternator ~120k. 3) SAI valve (I think). 4) new top. 5) repair of the top frame. One cable broke and when I attempted to put the top up it twisted and snapped a piece of the frame. The mounts on the left side also had come loose. It was repaired and then the piece that mounts to the body broke (faulty repair I guess) and that was replaced.
Problems: SAI CEL. It was flushed and 1 port remained clogged. I can reset the CEL and go through the drive cycle and it will stay off for ~1000 miles. I have passed PA emissions 5 or 6 years this way

97 turbo had 245K but then check engine...would not pass smog.
swapped in a turbo s engine with 6K miles...now at 258K...better than new

Are you the original owner? My dream car. I ordered one in '96 and the dealership took my '95 C2 in trade. Then the owner of the dealership called me and told me that they didn't actually have one to sell! After I bought this car and put some miles on it, trading it for a '97 turbo didn't seem affordable.
