Hello All,

The sunroof in my '96 Carrera coupe has persistent and loud squeak every time I go over rough pavement or a bump. Which is to say, pretty much constantly while driving with the sunroof closed. Very annoying.

So, I'm guessing it needs to be lubed somehow, but how do you access the underside of the sunroof, and what's likely causing the squeak that needs to be lubed? Thanks!

It might just be loose, there are 8 bolts up there. Just open the roof about 3in, pull the corner of the headliner on the sunroof, it has like 4 clips, they will just pop off with a good tug. Then push the headliner back, to expose the bolts, tighten as necessary.

Along the same lines what is the best way to maintain the sunroof. Preventive maintenance, lubrication, whatever. My sunroof is fine but is there a way to ensure it keeps operating as it should, a good way to lubricate the cables, clean the track, products to use.

Any thoughts would be most welcome.

Some wisdom is not put anything up there, as it attracts dirt, & will wear things out. I use a silicone dry lube, it is not suppose to attract anything, & my sunroofs work great.
