Rubber Cover Torn on Clutch Master Cylinder - Problem?
I was recently cleaning out around the bottom of the pedals in my 1995 C2 and noticed that the rubber protective cover on clutch master cylinder was torn. I checked the PET and did not find a number for the rubber cover.
Is it possible to order a replacement cover and failing that, does this warrant replacing the clutch master cylinder?
There are no related problems that I am aware of with the operation of the clutch.
TIA. -- Dan

I think it's a pretty major PITA to replace this, requires a new MC and a very good bleed. Mine is also torn. I noticed it four yrs. ago and I'll let it go until I have to remove the pedal cluster for other stuff.

This is extremely common. I searched here a couple years ago and somebody commented that he found a replacement boot that would fit at Autozone or somewhere like that, but I don't recall any specific identification of that boot. I simply patched mine up to keep the dust out, having concluded that it probably wasn't worth replacing the cylinder over. I was really on the fence about that one.

I changed mine a couple of weeks ago. It is quite easy. Just disconnect the pin, which connects the cylinder to the kinematic lever, i.e. the pedal arm. Then you can slide the old rubber cover off, and on goes the replacement.
I got the replacement from my local Porsche dealer.
