You guys probably haven't been around Porsches long enough, but I saw similar with a couple of 993 Turbos when they first came out. And 930s both in the gray market years, and after the reintroduction of the US spec cars in '86.

He's selling it already? That's really intense!!!

The drama on these forums is far and few between some months, but this selling thread makes my heart beat fast.

I love living vicariously through some of the buy and sell stories on Rennlist. Thanks for posting this link, Tony. I watched Superquant's initial buy thread with the passion of a Wimbledon or World Cup match.

Munching on popcorn right now waiting for his next move.

I guess he doesn't need (from page 2):

I do need to locate some extra treats though ASAP

roll cage installer
radar detector
pedal spacers for heel/toe
track data / video recording system

Buy high, sell low indulgence. He shoulda just bought a used one, but that would have taken more time.

I just turned 42 and the realization that I may never play in his arena is creeping up on me. I am pouring what I can into real estate investment, but dang, the payoff seems so "out there."

Yeah, but I think of all the folks on this site searching and waiting and saving to get just one car they can care for and keep, and I wonder about this kind of guy.

Really too much money and too much time. Maybe he should try Ferrari, or better yet Corvette, for his next momentary passion.

I'm just sayin'.

We need more people like this. It puts barely used yet still depreciated cars on the market for us to buy.

I looked at a nice GT Silver 997TT that was the same sort of deal, a big money person who gets bored with their life and constantly needs new toys. The car had less than 2k on it, but the price was way down there. Recycling is a good thing.

...I wonder about this kind of guy...DanL993
+1.

Some descriptions come to mind, and will stay there...

His polar opposite also comes to mind: Fred Phillips of Calgary, a very successful guy, who was on Dennis Gage's show last night. After driving his Abarth, they go out in his 1953 Siata, one of very few in the world. Then Dennis interviews him, and Fred is so excited about the car, and knows everything there is to know about it.

based on the name, I'm guessing he's a quant hedge fund guy.

mensa smarts, but lets say the attention span for toys and other stuff is as short lived as some of their trading positions.

I quit the "dream" of trying to chase the newest, greatest when I was in my mid-20s (late '80s). If you want to mess with high dollar cars, there are so many more interesting ways to go about it in the vintage race car scene. Even though I don't have an interest in the 910, beyond driving/developing it, the caliber of enthusiast you meet is in another galaxy compared to the "gotta have the latest" street car crowd. Yeah, some overlap, but it's minor.

In any case, what we have here in a 993 (or generically call it a modern-mannered sports car with all the relevant creature comforts in a power-to-weight ratio of ~1-to-10) is all you can drive on the street. I'd much rather have what I've got in 3, 4, 7 cars, than the single hugely depreciating hottie of the moment. And I haven't even mentioned the (here) 9.75% sales tax on each one of these purchases.............
