I still say it's a no-win situation for Porsche. Opens the flood gates for every car company to "challenge" Porsche.
Now what would be cool would be for Porsche to show up, but with a '73 RS or something. "We couldn't, with a good conscience, race you in a current Porsche car, because that would just be mean. So let's go with this 40 year-old antique." You can keep the salami.

Yeah, this second round kinda lost me. What started out clever, has now turned into silly Adam Sandler type humor. Salami of the month club? Dumb.

When we see comparison testing in magazines, doesn't Porsche provide the car. It certainly seems that way from the article. So what is the difference. Sounds like Road and Track could have a comparison article real soon.

Simple marketing reversal needed.

I'd accept but show up with a 40 year old light weight 911S.
Then Porsche couldn't loose. Either a win, or laugh at how a car 40 years older came in only x seconds behind. I agree with Falcon .

With a JCW I would think you would be faster. I was all in favor of MINI doing this until the autocross course was revealed. Race the full track and let MINI lose but show
the price differential compared to the price differential. Come Jim McDowell, play fair and this is coming from MINI owner.

Very true. Nothing is keeping MINI from getting a 911 to pull off this stunt, but they want Porsche to actively involved so they can get real publicity out of it. This was funny at first, but has gotten pretty sorry in my view. Considering that this guy used to work for Porsche, changes companies (for better personal opportunity I assume) and they starts targeting his former employer in this manner puts a capital "L" on his forehead...

Yeah and then even the sad and small Yugo CLUB gets involved to try to prove that their sad little cars really weren't so bad....

I find this all very funny. Wonder what the MINI PR folks are trying to do about now.

LOL I liked that one.

Only one big flaw ~~~~~ THe Porsche 'Spy" should have been on a Porsche Bike!!! The way he flew over the handlebar's is what happened to a lot of folks on Porsche bikes. The brakes were that good (we had one )

Default The track revealed

Although I am a MINI owner, also. This is not the kind of course that Porsche could be expected to compete in. MINI should have used the whole track and have been ready to lose to Goliath, and played the part of David. It would have been worth more in the PR department.
