So while the nipple is open turn the ignition?

Do a search out there on Rennlist on "Brake Bleeding". I ran across a thread that discussed this "gunk" and was somewhat conclusive that its existance makes it pretty certian that some major work is now in the offing.

Apparently this crap gets into the system and cannot be removed simply by flushing or desolving--it requires disassembly, replacement and cleaning of several components of the system.

This is apparently a known problem with 993s and why frequent brake flushing and bleeding is recommended.

I have read this before but can tell you from personal experience - albeit on a Honda CRV - that a second flush a week or so after the first took out a lot of extra gunk and when I flushed 18 months or so later the fluid was not bad at all. So while it might not be the answer it is certainly worth trying before you go overboard.

 

I agree, Otherwise alot of 993 owners would be taking apart there systems but I have yet to hear that.
Ill start with another flush or 2 and then see what I need to do.

 

You need to get a Motive power bleeder (I did not want to be the only one not to say it)

I had a plastic pompadour once, will that work?

Also, kudos to the group for not going overboard on nipple selection.

How much PSI do I pump the power bleeder to?
Is holding the catch can at the nipple really necassary to hold it higher then the nipple?

 

Also there is a Round rubber seal with the adapter kit and it has a small hole in the center of it. Does that go inside the cap that goes to the brake fluid tank?

 

Got the power bleeder bled out close to another Liter of fluid, Saw some Gunk and air bubbles come out. Did it in the farthest to closest order.

Drove the car and it is better then it was but the pedal still sinks about 2 inches on the first time and if you pump 1 or 2 times because rock hard. Is this the way 993's are? or do I still have air in the sytem somewhere?


Also how much do you open a bleeder valve? 1/2 turn? 1 turn? 2 turns?
