Default Repaint in progress, ****Updated with Pics in new paint*** (Iris Blue)

Hello,

I am having my Iris Blue baby repainted. I shaved the rear wing and a few other things like the front bumperettes and headlight washers.

Just have some questions and maybe you can help:

The rear spoiler grille, buy a new one or paint it? Anyone have any pics of a C2 with painted rear grille?

Can you think of anything else to shave?

Have you had your car repainted and wished there was something you would have done to it while being painted?

I need all new rubber parts, I know there was a thread with the part numbers listed, but search was not my friend today and I cannot seem to find it. I have a new emblem and the sunroof seals, need all the other seals...

I will post some pics of the progress as I get them, so check back.

Have you considered closing up the sunroof? I looked into it, and the only good way is to do a transplant. Welding up the existing sunroof is not really a good idea as the filler material will start to crack.

Also, please post picks of your car in the process so we all can enjoy!

GL,
Cheers!

I would upgrade to a euro turbo front bumper, fill in headlight washers...leave rear grill alone, just MHO.

Sometimes the chin spoilers get a little stubbly, and you have to shave them.

I see it is a 95.

Maybe remove 3rd brake light, fill holes and update?

OK, a few pics.

Basket handle wing is gone. I think it really cleans the rear lines up...

Rear bumper is off, mirrors are off, door handles are off. Front bumper should be off tonight.

Anyone ever remove the sunroof before? Is it difficult?

You can see the booth it will be painted inside in the below pic

Think I am going to have the rear grille painted.

Also thinking of getting rid of foglights and putting in the front brake ducts from Better Bodies.

Default painted deck lid

Jainbaby,

here are a couple of shots of Larpy's painted grill and basket handle delete on the center cab. The grill is from a C2S. Painted grill looks better on a darker car FWIW

Have fun!

leave the grille black.. contrast is good.

i shaved my hood washer nozzle holes shut, something to consider.

are you shaving the front bumperette holes but leaving the rears? If you're shaving the front bumper, shave the rear as well, in my opinion.

I'm in the minority, but I like my basket handle. It's kind of unique.

This is mine - C4, but same look. Euro bumpers and missing basket handle on mine, as well. Rain gutter delete is another option for smoothing.

Here is my thinking on the rear grille: my black one is faded, so I will have this one painted. If i don't like it, I would have had to have bought a new one anyway...

I just asked them to give me an idea of cost to shave the rear bumperettes.

Never thought to shave the hood washers. Makes sense...

I like the fog light delete and replace with better bodies brake ducts idea but have always liked the black grill instead of painting it.

If your grill is faded, I would try Mother's Back to Black...makes mine look brand new and lasts a long time. Also I hope you are going to lower your ride a little bit...with all that new paint it won't really look "right" until it is down at least 2or more inches.

Personally:
Try a grill blackener like Griots or the 404 stuff or whatever. If you don't like and are going to the trouble, I'd go split grill. Those I think look good painted, but single I think is better black.

Euro turbo with brake ducts and mini-fogs, again leaving those grills black too.

Just my $.02.

Oh, and let it cure then wrap up as much as you dare in 3M or Venture or whatever to keep it clean.
