SHOW ME YOUR SEATS!!!!!!

Searched for a long time for a replacement set of seats for the original 8 way power+heated seats. While they're not a bad seat I wanted something lighter that still would tilt since we have kids that need to sit in the back on occasion. I ended up going with 997 GT2 seats that I found locally for a decent deal. They were hardly used and they are very comfortable. I've talked to several people who have these seats and its a love/hate relationship. They either fit you or they don't. Luckily, they fit me like a glove and are very comfortable. I've routinely spent the whole day in them without any issue. They're hard to find, almost as hard as 993 sport seats but well worth it.

I have some Pole Position type seats made by another German manufacturer available for sale. They were recently covered in red leather, which is easily remedied by re dying black. There are no stickers or other identifying information on the seats. $1100 or $1400 re dyed. Jim

Those GT2 seats are awesome!!!
I have Recaro A8 series 2. Alcantara (well, generic Alcantara) in the middle, leather on the bolsters and headrest. I chose these seats after taking CP's Ruf seats for a test-sit. They were nearly impossible to find. I got lucky. The first one I found was nearly new (I think I paid $650 for it) while the second one I found was a disaster (but was also only $275). I took them apart, cleaned them up, had the side braces repainted, painted the seatbacks and had them reupholstered. I'm really happy with how they turned out. I think I ended up spending another $1500 getting them all spiffed up, so all in I was still under what OEM sport seats were changing hands for at the time.
The cool thing about the A8s is that they recline and tilt forward for access to the back seat, but also hold you in really well. And I think they are about 24 lbs or so each. The Alcantara is great. It's really easy to clean and take care of (it's nearly white!). It does a good job of gripping your butt, but does get a little warm on long drives. The leather on the bolsters allows you to slide into the seats easily (I would definitely not get these covered in Alcantara).
I used Wedge Engineering brackets and Recaro height adjustable sliders to mount them in the car. With the height adjustable sliders I had to cut down the back mounting points to get them to the lowest setting. I also had to cut off the inboard recline **** on the seats so that they would not rub against the center console (unfortunately I did this too late and my center console is a mess, but that's another project for another time). Anyway, here's some pics...

Thanks gonzilla.
Alex> No, the side airbags are not hooked up. Since OEM 993 seats don't have side airbags no need to hook them up. There is a DIY that someone posted on installing 997 seats in a 993. That is the post I followed for my install. It was actually easier than the DIY since there are no electronics in the seat. Took about 3 hours to do the install myself one afternoon. No modifications needed to the car at all so OEM seats will go back in no problem.

Great find Greg, they look amazing. If only the price would come down south of 7-9k.
