Default Engine value

So I am working on an engine, and will be dropping the one out of my 95. It has 110K on it and runs strong. I will have a compression/leak down done before dropping it. I have had a couple of people express interest, and would be interested to know what you guys think would be a fair price for it. It is a nice non varioram with no issues.

Thanks,
Emerald

If completely stock and will likely need a top end rebuild at some point in time, then IMHO @ 7k seems like a good place to start. Assuming just the motor, no peripherals.

Seems high for 110K but maybe not for starting asking. Call some of the dismantlers and see what they want.

Thanks for the input. I was thinking of around 6K. I don't think that the mileage means it will need a top end. I figured a good comp./leak test would be good for potential buyers.

Thanks,
Emerald

A very good idea to get the comp. & leak down first, I suspect those numbers will have a big impact on the value.

My opinion $5k-$5.5k
If it is complete with wiring and such.
But 6k is a Great starting point.

I sold my crash insurance, 60,000 mile (IIRC), non-varioram motor for $9,000 two years ago.

I would agree with these numbers based on mileage..

They are quite a bit of work to install into earlier cars, and anybody uying for earlier or later install would probably want to do a reseal at minimum.. that thought will affect your offers.

Dismatler pricing is always on the high-side..

Or money shift insurance?

I think the prices thrown out are in the ballpark for someone who needs one v. those of us who pick things up when it's almost too good to be true. (Never again going to get a $3K 30K miler like I did about 10 years ago..........)
