Default mounting V1 near rear window

I'm thinking of moving my V1 from above the rearview mirror to the rear of the car by the rear glass....either on the ceiling below the third brake light or on the rear package shelf. I'd like to hide it in some kind of housing so that it's not so obvious and visible. Has anyone done this? If so could you post a pic of the housing you used?

TIA

Somewhat OT to your question, but I got threatened with a ticket from a CHP for having a V1 due to this CA law: http://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/vctop/d12/vc26708.htm

He didn't end up giving me a ticket; instead he gave me a fix-it ticket for no front plate........

This is where I mounted my V1. Can't tell unless you really look.

I used a 964 brake light housing. Cut a hole for the V1 and converted the tail light bulb to a flat LED element.

I know about that law, but this is actually for my car in Hong Kong and not the one in LA. In any case, my current set-up doesn't use suction cup and is not mounted on the windshield. From a previous post:

Can you give us details on how you mounted the V1?

Thanks...I actually responded to your post in that thread asking for details of your install. Any chance you have the part number for the 964 housing? Did you have to drill holes to mount it or are there holes already under the headliner? TIA!

Post is here:

The V1 mount is attached to an aluminum plate that is held on by the visor retaining clips....no holes drilled and completely reversible. I have a remote display (modified with red/yellow/green/blue LEDs for different alerts) so the V1 main unit is completely dark and a remote mute button on the turn signal stalk so much easier to access than reaching for the remote display or main unit to mute.

I looked it up in PET and the part numbers are 911 631 070 00 and 911 631 061 01. However, the 928 part looked almost the same. You can see it here in one on ebay.

It is attached to the window by doublestick tape. So it is completely reversible.

Found the 964 one. Not sure what's the diff between 928 and 964, but I used the 964.

Open the unit up with the screw, discard innards, cut hole in housing for V1, attach V1 using double stick or velcro, use led bulb or panel to replace brake bulb, put back together, double stick it to your rear windshield.

Any chance you have the approximate outside dimensions of your box? If you use double sided tape to mount to the windshield any worries that it might come loose in an accident....or is it on pretty firm? Thanks!
