It's called the VG2 detector detector. When I drive in Virginia, I have my radar detector hidden under a pile of maps. As soon as it detects K band or a strong X band, I unplug the V1 and pull it off of the dash.

The V1 has superior detection to BEL and Escort's but does pick up more falses...To eliminate the false alarms I would try the second Logic setting...the capital "L"..works well for me and I'm in overpopulated Northern NJ. As far as detector detectors...the V1 will actually pick up leaky detectors...you get the"J" signal when your driving...The V1 is one of the few detectors that do not transmit and will not be detected by detector detectors....
For you guys with the V1...I dont have a pic at the moment but to keep the V1 concealed I hardwired it above the rear view and stuck the remote face on the carpeted ledge just below the ashtray...If you get pulled over just pop the ashtray open and the face is hidden...

True, I de-activated the X-band on mine a couple of years ago and this increased my happiness w/ the V1 tremendously.

It does seem that with every passing day, the saturation of radar signals in urban environments make living with such a sensitive radar detector a serious sacrifice.

On the one hand, you have the best radar detection and on the other you've got this parrot beeping and chirping in the car non-stop.

I've gotten to the point when I only use it on road trips. This is really a shame but as you age, you become less tolerant of noise!

Can you spot the V1?

It's set to big-L mode and decreased K band sensitivity. I turn the sound OFF, and just use the remote display lights. Very unobtrusive and alarms me quickly without distracting.

I used to have my remote there. I was cruising one evening with the top down, stereo cranked up. Had a bit of open highway up ahead and opened it up. I saw car up ahead pull over and thought it was somebody that I had scared. I slowed down and thought that my phone was ringing. Then the blue lights came on and I ended up with a ticket for 100 in a 65 (ouch). Sometime later, that trooper was having colonoscopy done and (while under the influence of versed) told my buddy the gastroenterologist that he had clocked me at 120 mph. I now have the remote in my field of vision, between the tach and speedo, like axl911's photo above. I keep my V1 on the dash and hold it in place with one of those sticky pads. It cuts down the range a bit, but can't be seen by oncoming traffic. You really don't need that much range. Knowing that there is radar far ahead just slows me down and doesn't help a bit. I want to know what traps are in the next mile or so.

Do you have any close-pics of your stealth housing? Was this a custom fab or is there an online vendor this is available from? Thanks!
