What about the Scantool 01coccobet? It's free, and you only need a simple serial interface between your PC and the car diagnostics connector.

Would also like to know which version of the "Scantool" you guys are referencing. Seems like there are muitliple choices at that site.

There's tons of info on the scantool software on this forum, also in the 964 section, along with tips for use and so on.

I've also downloaded a copy of the Scantool v4 software and enhanced it a bit, have a look at the bottom of this page:
